Property Taxes and Funding Education

Schools receive funding from the property taxes of nearby neighborhoods. Richer areas are bound to receive more money because the taxes the rich people pay are higher than the poorer communities. The poor communities pay less because their property is not valued as high and schools in that area get less funding which usually makes them worse off. In order to more efficiently fund schools, richer schools need to donate supplies or money to those in need.

Poverty in The U.S

Poverty in the United States is cyclical in nature with roughly 13 to 17% of Americans living below the federal poverty line at any given point in time, and roughly 40% falling below the poverty line at some point within a 10-year time span. Poverty is defined as the state of one who lacks a usual or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions.[1] Approximately 43.6 (14.3%) million Americans were living in poverty in 2009, up from 39.8 million (13.2%) in 2008

Opinion : Poverty in the U.S is a big problem that is starting to develop. But I do not think it is the all the government's fault. Maybe a little bit because of our economy is still having some problems but at the same time there are a lot of other factors that cause poverty.

Blog # 3

The economic output of the state of California was $1.847 trillion in 2008. That figure is based on current 2008 dollars (nominal Gross Domestic Product), while the inflation adjusted GDP, real GDP, based on prices in the year 2000, was $1.546 trillion in 2008, according to data from the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The state had the third-highest unemployment rate in the nation in August, at 12.4%, the Bureau of Labor Statistics said Tuesday morning. Only Nevada, which set a new series high with an unemployment rate of 14.4%, and Michigan, with an unemployment rate of 13.1%, had higher rates than the Golden State.

California's unemployment rate rose from 12.3% in July. Twenty-six other states saw their unemployment rates decrease from July to August, including Mississippi and Alabama. California was one of the states with the biggest decreases in employment: It lost 33,600 jobs. Texas lost 34,200 and Michigan lost 50,300. North Carolina added 18,600.

I think California needs to clean up there Economy some more. They need to put out more jobs to get their economy going.

China's Economy

Summary: It is an undisputable fact that China's economy is in better shape than the economy of the United States. Gross domestic product in China grew at a 9.6% annualized rate in the third quarter of 2010. GDP in the U.S. during that same period was a mere 2.6%. But the robust growth in China is creating some headaches, notably worries about inflation and asset bubbles.

Commentary: China's economy is amazing it is all because they studied the U.S Economy very carefully. China is able to do these big changes and everything that is making their economy better because they do not have a democracy in their government. If they had to pass their new ways of doing things through congress it would take a long time for their economy to change. So this poses the question maybe a democracy is not the best type of government for improvement and moving forward but at the same time China is also having problems with stocks. So does the good outweigh the bad? What do you think?
